Overview Responsible for total room, banquet, catering, and room rental revenue, yield strategies, implementation, and accountability to market performance, meeting budget, forecast, and optimal business mix targets. Strategies include market mix, pricing, status, and direct sales. Develop and solicit business from all markets to ensure the necessary advance bookings for a successful and profitable hotel operation. Responsibilities Direct solicitation efforts of the sales staff through effective communication, overseeing rate, date, and space commitments for group room sales. Recruit, interview, hire, train, evaluate performance, resolve problems, and recommend discipline or termination when appropriate. Ensure regular training programs and adherence to HEI standards. Provide guidance and counsel staff for improvement. Prepare reports on sales department operations, including forecasts, lead management, booking reports, and sales meetings. Research travel industry trends and develop marketing strategies accordingly. Conduct persuasive sales presentations to prospective clients. Prepare and execute annual business plans, adjusting as needed based on market conditions. Participate in sales and executive meetings. Maintain knowledge of industry trends and economic factors. Manage group, transient, and catering/banquet sales activities to maximize revenue. Develop rates and strategies through competitive analysis and demand management. Represent the hotel in community and industry organizations. Ensure compliance with employment and civil rights laws. Maintain regular attendance and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Skills Education and Experience Bachelor's degree preferred. 5+ years of sales leadership experience in a similar-sized operation preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Delphi. Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills, and budget analysis. Extensive sales skills, revenue management, recruitment, supervision, training, and motivation of managers. Effective listening, communication, and diplomacy skills. Ability to stand and move throughout the hotel property. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to different audiences. Compensation Salary Range: $145,000 - $165,000 annually Tipped/Service Charge Eligible? No Discretionary Performance Bonus Eligible?
