6 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants Learning Experience Designer Learning Experience Designer Location: Hybrid (Columbia, South Carolina) Job Summary The Learning Experience Designer (LXD) is responsible for designing and developing engaging, effective, and learner-centered educational experiences across various modalities (e.g., e-learning, blended learning, instructor-led training, microlearning, simulations). This role combines expertise in instructional design, user experience (UX) principles, and learning science to create impactful learning journeys that meet specific performance outcomes and business objectives. The LXD will collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), instructors, and other stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality learning solutions, while also providing operational and administrative support for learning initiatives. Key Responsibilities Conduct Needs Analysis: Perform comprehensive learning needs assessments, audience analyses, and task analyses to identify performance gaps, define learning objectives, and recommend appropriate learning solutions. Design & Develop Learning Programs: Design and develop engaging learning programs, including instructor-led training (ILT) materials, e-learning modules, blended learning approaches, microlearning, and simulations. Develop Content: Create compelling and interactive learning content, including storyboards, scripts, activities, assessments, job aids, and facilitator guides. Apply UX Principles: Integrate user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles into learning solutions to ensure intuitiveness, usability, and a positive learner journey. Collaborate with SMEs: Partner effectively with subject matter experts to gather accurate content, validate instructional strategies, and ensure technical accuracy. LMS & Technology Management: Manage and maintain the organization's e-learning platform and Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring content is up-to-date, accessible, and functions correctly. Provide basic technical support and troubleshooting for e-learning issues as needed. Program Coordination & Support: Assist in coordinating and delivering training programs, including scheduling, logistics, and participant management. Develop Assessments: Design and develop valid and reliable assessments to measure learning effectiveness and evaluate the achievement of learning objectives. Evaluation & Reporting: Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through surveys, assessments, and performance metrics. Analyze feedback and data to identify areas for improvement and assist in preparing reports on training metrics and outcomes for management review. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of training activities, participant attendance, and evaluation results. Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate with HR and other departments to ensure alignment of training initiatives with organizational goals. Project Management: Manage multiple projects concurrently, adhering to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Communicate project status and potential risks to stakeholders. Stay Current: Keep abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in learning design, educational technology, and user experience. Champion Learning: Advocate for learner-centered design and effective instructional strategies within the organization. Qualifications Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 3-5 years of instructional design experience and expertise in adult learning strategies, including online learning and rapid design principles; or combined work experience and education. Instructional Design Expertise: Proficiency in instructional design principles and educational theories. Proven experience applying instructional design models and learning theories to create effective learning solutions. SCORM & LMS Proficiency: Experience with design of SCORM compliant courses and experience in working with Learning Management Systems from both an administration and instructional design perspective. Communication & Presentation Skills: Superior writing, editing, communication, and presentation skills; ability to state issues in a concise, solution-driven manner. Relationship Building: Ability to quickly establish strong working relationships with all levels of personnel across multiple departments. Organizational & Project Management: Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and project management skills. Adaptability & Prioritization: Proficiency in prioritizing/reprioritizing tasks based on changing needs. Content Development: Ability to quickly analyze information, develop curriculum outline, and draft training content. Independent Work: Ability and experience in working independently to develop training solutions from start (analysis) to end (delivery). Technology Proficiency: Proficiency with various e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Easygenerator, Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Captivate, Rise 360). Familiarity with multimedia development tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro) is a plus. UX/UI Knowledge: Understanding of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles, with the ability to apply them to learning solutions. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail. Preferred Skills & Traits Proactive, self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and accountability. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) for digital learning content. Experience with gamification, simulations, or virtual reality in learning. Demonstrated creativity and innovation in designing learning solutions.
