The Program Director of Sports will lead, develop and launch activities that bring youth, adults and families closer together, encourage good health and foster connections through sports (instructional and leagues), camp. This position develops, organizes and implements the following Y programs: youth instructional sports (traditional and non-traditional), adult sports and leagues, family oriented programs, sports based partnerships, and volunteer coordination. The Program Director of Sports will lead, develop and launch activities that bring youth, adults and families closer together, encourage good health and foster connections through sports (instructional and leagues), camp. This position develops, organizes and implements the following Y programs: youth instructional sports (traditional and non-traditional), adult sports and leagues, family oriented programs, sports based partnerships, and volunteer coordination. Key Responsibilities Key Functions/Responsibilities: Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed, in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Leadership of leagues, serving up to 600 participants. Marketing and distribution of program information. Managements program rosters, enrollment and reporting. Evaluate program effectiveness. Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Trains and develops staff and volunteers to meet program goals and quality measures. Utilizes strategies to motive, empower staff and achieve key objectives. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships internally and externally to include community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility. Develops and monitors the program budgets to meet fiscal objectives. Securing and scheduling the needed facilities; and creating and scheduling the classes, activities or events. Manages the gym and rental schedules. Provides direct service instruction/facilitation of 20 hours per week in programs with an emphasis on skill development and character. Develops new programs, leagues, or services that meet the needs of the community and that are aligned with strategic goals. Participate in community field and gymnasium summits. Evening and Weekend shifts are an expectation. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Requirements Bachelor's degree in Sports Management/Recreation/ Health Sciences or related field. YMCA Team Leader certification preferred. Two years of experience supervising and developing staff and volunteer teams. Two years of sports coaching experience. Previous experience operating sports leagues in a leadership role preferred. Within 30 days of hire, completion of Child Abuse Prevention, Working with Program Volunteers, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Blood borne Pathogens training. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Benefits Why work at the Y?
