Job Description

Overview:

Golden West Packaging Group is seeking a hands-on and data-driven Reliability Manager / Project Engineer to lead critical reliability improvement efforts and capital projects across our manufacturing network. This role is a hybrid of engineering execution and reliability leadership—focused on optimizing asset performance, minimizing downtime, and driving strategic initiatives to improve safety, throughput, and OEE. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced, high-ownership environments and brings a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

Reliability Leadership

  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies across sites.
  • Use root cause analysis (RCA), FMEA, and RCM methodologies to drive improvements in asset reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Lead failure investigations and establish corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Implement and refine KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, and OEE to monitor and improve asset performance.
  • Work closely with site maintenance managers to establish reliability best practices and standard work.

Engineering Projects

  • Plan, manage, and execute capital improvement projects, from scope development and vendor selection to installation and commissioning.
  • Partner with operations, safety, and quality teams to ensure new equipment and modifications align with performance, compliance, and cost goals.
  • Support equipment specification, layout planning, and process optimization efforts across the manufacturing footprint.
  • Lead project teams through timelines, budgets, and resource planning with a strong focus on ROI.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Serve as the technical liaison between the VP of Manufacturing, plant engineering teams, vendors, and OEMs.
  • Participate in plant reviews, capital planning sessions, and reliability audits.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts including Lean manufacturing initiatives and Six Sigma tools where applicable.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering (or related discipline); advanced degree a plus.
  • 5–10 years of experience in manufacturing, with a strong background in reliability engineering, maintenance leadership, or capital project execution.
  • Proven experience in corrugated, paper, food/bev, packaging, or other industrial manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance systems (e.g., CMMS), TPM, and equipment lifecycle management.
  • Excellent project management skills; PMP certification is a plus.
  • Hands-on, plant-savvy, and equally comfortable with a wrench or a spreadsheet.
  • Ability to travel to manufacturing sites (approx. 25–50%).

What You’ll Get

  • Competitive total compensation package (Pay Range: $125,000–$135,000+/year, consideration above the range for candidates with experience in the corrugated manufacturing industry)
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k) with company contribution
  • 10 paid holidays + generous paid time off
  • Employee Assistance Program with wellness, nutrition, and retirement support
  • A team-oriented environment where your contributions are valued
  • Opportunities to grow into leadership roles as the business expands
