General Description

Under the direction of the Access and Ability Center (AAC) Director, the Test Proctor will oversee and maintain the testing center, administer a variety of tests, and provide information to students regarding test procedures. In addition, this position will maintain various records and collaborate with District staff/faculty with related information.

This is a full-time 12-month position assigned to the Visalia Campus.

The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Initial salary placement is at $56,243.

Job Duties

Job duties of the Test Proctor:
  • Administer a variety of tests to individuals and groups of students in the testing center in a wide variety of academic subject areas including math, science, English, foreign language, music, history and other subjects; administer and proctor tests for FSU Visalia Campus as appropriate.
  • Implementing authorized testing accommodations, when applicable.
  • Oversee testing facilities, maintain security and test integrity and ensure compliance with ethical standards and test protocols; train and provide work direction to student employees and others as assigned.
  • Schedule, train and oversee test assistants (readers/scribes).
  • Operate computer equipment and software to maintain databases and statistical data related to tests administered, inventory and other data; generate reports, transfer information, edit and back-up files, and store testing data.
  • Provide information and assistance to students regarding testing schedules, procedures, and requirements.
  • Communicate with college and District faculty and staff as needed.
  • Utilize the District's integrated software in performing the required duties of the position.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience):

The Test Proctor will have any combination equivalent to completion of two years of college-level training and two years of increasingly responsible business/office experience.

Licenses and Other Requirements:
  • Valid California driver's license
  • Evening and weekend work
  • Travel to different work sites
  • An incumbent must be insurable at the "standard rate" by the employer's insurance carrier at all times while employed in this classification by the College of the Sequoias

  • Test proctoring techniques and procedures, including familiarity with software such as Proctorio along with adaptive software (e.g., Kurzweil)
  • Testing accommodations

  • Word Processing, spreadsheet and database programs

  • Record keeping techniques

  • Principles and policies of training and providing work direction

Ability to:

  • Oversee a testing facility for community college students.
  • Communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Operate computers, peripheral equipment, scanners and other office equipment
  • Schedule and coordinate a variety of academic tests.
  • Ensure student compliance with ethical standards in testing.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with faculty, staff and others.
  • Provide testing information and assistance to students and faculty.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Train and supervise student assistants (readers/scribes).
  • Maintain security and confidentiality of testing materials/results and student information.
  • Relate effectively to people of varied academic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds using tact, diplomacy and courtesy.
